Four years ago, Burhanuddin Qutbi, Creative Director and Co-Founder of Saifee Creations, established a professional relationship with the Public Relations team of The Dawoodi Bohras to develop a dedicated website for community members residing in the United Kingdom.
While the main global website for The Dawoodi Bohras was already operational, Saifee Creations was commissioned to design a UK-specific platform with a customised, community-focused approach.
The successful delivery of this initial project demonstrated Saifee Creations’ professionalism, bespoke design capability, and commitment to high-quality output. As a result, the team was subsequently engaged to design and develop regional websites for multiple international locations including Canada, East Africa, Far East, Middle East, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia and New Zealand.
The most recent addition to this portfolio is a dedicated website for the Dawoodi Bohra community in the United States, which went live in March 2025.
In addition to regional websites, Saifee Creations also undertook the redesign and redevelopment of the global Dawoodi Bohras website—all while continuing to manage and maintain the regional platforms.
Technical Implementation Overview
The regional websites are built using the Flatsome theme on WordPress, whereas the newly launched global and U.S. websites have transitioned to the Oxygen Builder framework. This shift to Oxygen has enabled greater flexibility, improved performance, and more developer-centric customisation.
Despite the technical complexities involved in moving away from Flatsome, the adoption of Oxygen has proven to be a resilient, adaptable, and sustainable long-term solution.
The nine regional websites function as an integrated ecosystem, connected to the global platform with full cross-platform compatibility and seamless social media integration.
Each regional site reflects its geographical identity through distinct colour schemes—for example, green for Pakistan and red, white, and blue for the United States. The Middle East platforms include comprehensive localisation capabilities, including full content translation, to ensure both visual and linguistic accessibility while maintaining brand consistency.
Technical and Operational Challenges
The global website redesign came with significant complexity due to its original build using the Newspaper theme and proprietary elements. Saifee Creations navigated the following key technical and process-related challenges:
- Executing a full redesign and infrastructure rebuild using Oxygen Builder, while systematically migrating all content from the legacy Newspaper theme without data loss or content alteration.
- Implementing robust data preservation and validation protocols to ensure accuracy and integrity throughout the transition.
- Maintaining SEO integrity by preserving URLs, meta data, and structured content to avoid search ranking drops.
- Recreating dynamic layouts and templates within Oxygen Builder to match or improve upon previous designs.
- Ensuring cross-browser and cross-device compatibility for a consistent global user experience.
- Coordinating feedback and approvals across multiple stakeholders with differing expectations and time zones.
- Balancing redesign efforts with ongoing content updates, ensuring site continuity during development.
- Conducting thorough QA and UAT cycles with non-technical stakeholders to validate every stage of the rollout.
This strategic migration from a theme-based website to a custom-designed, future-ready digital platform – despite the inherent technical challenges – resulted in a vastly improved, scalable, and robust infrastructure for The Dawoodi Bohras.
Thanks to meticulous planning and execution, all existing content was preserved, branding remained intact, and the transition enhanced both site functionality and user experience – all without downtime or disruption.
