Saifee Creations and the Ashara 1444H Experience

Honouring a Sacred Tradition

Ashara Mubaraka, which translates to “The Blessed Ten”, marks a significant period at the beginning of the Islamic calendar. The first ten days of the Islamic year honour the historic tragedy at Karbala, Iraq, where Imam Husain ibn Ali, along with his family, stood to protect the core principles of Islam in the face of adversity. Muslims worldwide observe this period with mourning, deep spiritual reflection, and remembrance.

In 2022, His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, Leader of the Dawoodi Bohra Community,  selected London as the venue for his Ashara Mubaraka sermons. Ashara Mubaraka London was a milestone in the history of the Dawoodi Bohra community. More than 12,500 community members were able to attend this historic event in London and participate in the commemoration of Imam Husain’s sacrifice with His Holiness.

A Vision Set in Motion: London Ashara as a Global Standard

Community members had envisioned London Ashara as a benchmark global event for the Dawoodi Bohra community. Dedicated teams were formed to bring this ambitious vision to life, ensuring every aspect was executed with precision and within strict timelines.

One major focus was branding and media, which led to the formation of a dedicated media team under the creative direction of Burhanuddin and Juzer Qutbi, Co-Founders of Saifee Creations.

A Centralised Media Ecosystem

The media team introduced a standardised system for design, production, and communication. This ensured consistency across all departments and included deliverables such as:

  • Event Branding
  • Reporting decks
  • Visual Identity and Branding
  • Informational website
  • Welcome kits and orientation materials
  • Banners, posters, and information displays
  • Wayfinding Signage
  • Digital communications and social media visuals

The Ashara “Araz” Logo: A Visual Identity with Deep Meaning

The Ashara Mubaraka logo for London, named the “Araz” logo, was conceptualised and designed by Saifee Creations with rich symbolism and cultural sensitivity.

  • Shape: The logo is crafted as a teardrop, universally symbolising sorrow and reflecting the profound grief of Karbala.
  • Colour Scheme: The Union Jack subtly integrates into the top of the teardrop, incorporating the red, white, and blue of the UK flag to ground the event in its host nation.
  • Architecture: The lower section features stylised motifs inspired by Husaini Masjid London, blending Dawoodi Bohra aesthetics with warm Islamic tones.
  • Typography: A clean, modern font anchors the design with “Ashara Mubarak Araz London 1444H,” combining clarity with elegance.
  • Cultural Fusion: The logo blends British identity with Islamic spirituality, reflecting Imam Husain’s universal message of justice and sacrifice.

This emblem not only set a powerful visual tone for the event but also demonstrated how design can bridge culture, spirituality, and location in a single graphic.

Bespoke website design and development

A dedicated website was created to support the Dawoodi Bohra community in commemorating London Ashara 1444H. This platform provided essential information for thousands of attendees, including event schedules, venue details, and important updates. Designed with user-friendly navigation and responsive functionality, it ensured accessibility across all devices. The website seamlessly integrated the Ashara branding, creating a cohesive digital presence for the event.

Strategic Public Relations and Community Engagement

Ashara 1444H in London was not just a religious gathering—it was a community-wide initiative. Presentations and event promotional material were put together to engage with council, residents and businesses, promoting inclusivity and fostering goodwill.

We coordinated with the local Council to install lamp post banners along Rowdell Road, home to Husaini Masjid. Custom signage and Ashara branding adorned the outdoor marquees, elevating the event’s presence in the community space.

A Grateful Reflection

Saifee Creations expresses its deep gratitude to every member of the media team whose creativity, discipline, and hard work made Ashara Mubaraka London 1444H a remarkable success. The project not only reinforced the capabilities of Saifee Creations but also established trust and credibility within the global Dawoodi Bohra community. It stands as a testament to the power of meaningful design in honouring tradition while embracing innovation.
